Desert Sky Games, what happened?
Once upon a time Desert Sky Games, in Gilbert, AZ, was a hub for Magic the Gathering players. They focused on having the best supported games, turnouts and merchandise. However over the recent months I’ve been hearing some really weird things. From the disgruntled recounts of their reduced MTG table space. To the constant reorganizing/merchandising of the store. For the most part I’ve dismissed these recounts but I never truly expected the most recent and depressing article on DSG’s Blog spot.

Are you ready for some games, comics and drama? I know I am! In fact this will be my first year working at Phoenix Comicon and I’m excited to meet all the new people associated with the Con. I’m also interested to see what the full four day experience is all about.
For those of you who haven’t been to Phoenix Comicon, I always encourage you to go and check out the event. It’s not all about geeks and comics anymore. There are celebrities from mainstream TV shows, authors, game tournaments and so much more!

Empire Games Review
Empire Games

(480) 813-1525
Store Hours:
M-Sa: 11am – 12am
Su: 11am – 9pmFirst Impression:
This store is big and open, which I love. It also has plenty of space for gaming and tons of tables for miniature gaming. Truly, my heart was hoping that this was the store for me! However, as I hung around I realized, although this was an amazing store, it was not my crowd. The people here were friendly but none seemed interested in playing my board game and they remained standoffish with me. If miniatures are your game of choice then this store is probably for you.

MaricopaCon 2014 Kickstarter

Arizona’s Grassroots gaming convention MaricopaCon is returning to the Valley of the Sun for 2014.
What does this mean for you? Well, if you live in Phoenix, Arizona you have the rare opportunity to visit a convention specifically based on a fantastic gaming experience. That means you’ll be able to chuck dice, toss cards and mercilessly pulverize your friends to your heart’s desire for two whole days of unrequited gaming bliss. Organizer Jason Youngdale has brought together several groups around the valley such as the Arizona Men In Black, Adventures Under the Laughing Moon, Time Renegades, UAG, and the Catalyst Game Labs Demo Team. They’ll bring you a heaping array of board game demos, RPG and even miniature war gaming. (more…)
