First Impression:
I would say this is more a Comic store than anything else. However, it’s a comic store that serves LATTES AND GAMES ON THE SIDE! Seriously, whoever came up with this idea was a complete genius. This is the store I’ve been dreaming of all my life!!! They have cushy couches in the front and then about midway through the store they have their neatly organized comic collection. Once you get to the back of the store you’ll see the area for gaming and watching films. I seriously can’t get over what they’ve done with the space in this store. It’s open and inviting, yet much like a Transformer it can be morphed into what the store needs. Dr. Who night?? Sure! Just arrange the couches. MTG night??? Clear the couches and add the tables.
So if you haven’t been to Gotham City (Ha! That will never get old) before you should visit them soon.
What they’re equipped for:
Gaming tables: The gaming tables are only set up on game nights but i’m sure they’ll put them out if needed.
Store tournaments/events: You can check for store events on their Facebook page. They run board game nights, RPG nights, Dr. Who and more. They’re also sanctioned for MTG so you can get your special cards and prizes here.
Gamer’s Stock on hand: They had very few board games but they did have a decent supply of MTG cards, especially the singles. A great diamond in the rough for MTG.
Food policy/Snack Availability:
Store Policy on food: They have many items for purchase on site and don’t have any problems with you bringing a few of your own.
Types of Snacks Available: Yes, for all you non-coffee drinkers out there, they DO have more than coffee. They make tea, specialty drinks and even have a small fully stocked fridge.
Price: Their prices are right on par with everyone else.
Friendliness:
Ownership: I’ve met Miguel in person but not Kevin. Ownership seemed super-friendly and easy going.
Cashiers: Once I called there looking for a very specific game piece. The cashier was very patient with me as I described the piece and they made sure to look all over the store for it. The service was greatly appreciated!
Other Gamers: I got a chance to sit down and play with some of the other gamers here and everyone seemed really friendly. Seriously, no odd looks or rude comments. Just really friendly conversation and a general helpfulness from the other gamers.
Cleanliness:
Store front: The store looks very clean and organized. I really enjoyed how they displayed their comics and merchandise.
Restroom: They have one… but I forgot to go in! I’ll update ASAP.
